Because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. (Romans 10:9-10)

Second Chances (John 8:1-10, 2 Corinthians 5:17, Psalm 34:19)

Sam Bennett, Administrative Pa, September 17, 2017
Part of the Special Message series, preached at a Sunday Morning service

Sometimes when we make a mistake in life it feels so final; you may think it’s all over but the game of life isn’t like a game in which you only have only 1 chance to win. In life, God will give you a second chance.

John 8:1-10

8:1 but Jesus went to the Mount of Olives. Early in the morning he came again to the temple. All the people came to him, and he sat down and taught them. The scribes and the Pharisees brought a woman who had been caught in adultery, and placing her in the midst they said to him, “Teacher, this woman has been caught in the act of adultery. Now in the Law Moses commanded us to stone such women. So what do you say?” This they said to test him, that they might have some charge to bring against him. Jesus bent down and wrote with his finger on the ground. And as they continued to ask him, he stood up and said to them, “Let him who is without sin among you be the first to throw a stone at her.” And once more he bent down and wrote on the ground. But when they heard it, they went away one by one, beginning with the older ones, and Jesus was left alone with the woman standing before him. 10 Jesus stood up and said to her, “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?” (ESV)

2 Corinthians 5:17

17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. (ESV)

Psalm 34:19

19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous,
but the Lord delivers him out of them all. (ESV)
