Jesus wept. (John 11:25)
Grief is a confusing, life-altering process that we would rather avoid. Loss alters the normalcy of our days like a wrecking ball, and demolishes our sense of security, leaving us to sit stunned in the rubble. We wonder, “Why?” and ask, “What do I do next?”
In their book Invitation to Tears, Aubrie Hills and Jonalyn Fincher tell us that loss is beyond our control, but our grief is not. Grief is not a checklist, nor is it a race. Rather, it’s a process of rebirth, with the opportunity to learn more about God, about ourselves, and about others. It is possible to “grieve well”.
If you are dealing with grief in your life, Bent Creek Baptist Church is here to help. Please contact Pastor Tommy Bridges at 828-667-9818.
