Tommy Bridges has been Senior Pastor of Bent Creek Baptist Church in Asheville, N.C. since November 2002.
He previously served for 21 years in various ministry leadership positions with Campus Crusade for Christ International, a nondenominational Christian organization. In his last 10 years with Campus Crusade, Tommy was a Regional Director in the MidSouth, overseeing the spiritual leadership training and shepherding of 30 campus ministry directors and 250 full-time staff on more than 50 campuses in five states: North and South Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky, and half of West Virginia.
Tommy’s experience also includes working in international ministries during the summers, and he has pioneered three partnerships to build campus ministries overseas.
A Kings Mountain N.C. native, Tommy earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Management from N.C. State University and a Masters in Divinity from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. He is an ordained minister.
He and his wife, Lynn, have been married since 1982 and have three sons: Matthew, Nathan, and Daniel. They enjoy hiking and exploring Western North Carolina.
As a pastor, Tommy genuinely enjoys the people dynamics of shepherding — meeting and relating to people’s spiritual needs then encouraging them to a deeper faith in Christ. And that’s what he wants for himself – to experience a growing thirst to know Christ better. He regularly prays that Psalm 42:1-2 would be true of him: “As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God?”
